Our guest this week is someone very special to our city. Blake Sutherland has blazed the trail in Ottawa for progressive and melodic electronica, a trail we now get to walk with the ease of knowing that our collective taste buds for this music have benefitted from his relentless and passionate work to cultivate and expand them.
Blake has been at the forefront of melodic dance music for over two decades. As founder of Wide Angle Recordings, he has introduced original music from some of scene's most innovative artists, including Max Cooper, Gab Rhome, Deepfunk, Cid Inc, Antrim, and Pole Folder.
Blake's seminal podcast Cityscape Sessions served as a platform for cutting edge progressive mixes for over 10 years, eventually giving rise to an event series of the same name in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada. Under his direction, Cityscape Sessions ushered in a number of highly influential mixes and played host to some of the biggest melodic dance music names in the world, including Jeremy Olander, Eelke Kleijn, and John 00 Fleming.
As a DJ, Blake Sutherland's passion for his craft has taken him around the world, with appearances in Canada, the United States, Germany, Netherlands, the UK, and Australia.
