This week we feature an Ottawa stalwart and dear friend of mine. Pithra is well known as a DJ and as one of the founders of Music.Art.Ppl, one of our city’s most important music and creative collectives. I’ve had the pleasure of playing events with him and his live performances never fail to get people furiously dancing with a huge smile on all night.
Inspired by progressive, deep & minimal house from the 2005-2009 era, Pithra’s journey as a DJ started in 2010. From intimate house parties to clubs and festivals, Pithra is a versatile DJ who has a passion for music with a selection ranging through Deep, Prog, Melodic, Afro, Tribal House & Techno. Pithra is passionate about community and bringing people together.

This week we welcome a fantastic up-and-coming DJ from the province of Santiago del Estero in Argentina’s interior. Anto Romano has loved music from her childhood and has nurtured a passion to absorb, learn and study a variety of sounds, typically on the melodic side. She has developed a versatile style in her track selection, and this has opened a number of doors for her as a progressive DJ who knows how to borrow from deep, organic and progressive house, melodic techno and even ethereal among others.
Anto started her journey as a DJ in 2019 and has been one of the key movers of the electronic music scene in her home province, where acceptance remains elusive. At the age of 24 she has already been behind the decks at many of her city’s events and most of its good bars including Mamba Negra, Antares, BBQ, Patagonia, Francis Bar and Roonin. Her sets have been played on a number of radio stations including Capital 101.3 FM, Planeta Groove Radio, Buenos Aires’ Phoenix Sonido Selecto on 102.9 FM, Radio House in Tucuman, the Influencias radio show in Corrientes, and Dinamica Radio in Santa Fe. In addition, she has started to appear internationally on Loops Radio (Turkey) and Cosmos Radio (Germany).
Her style is inspired by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Sasha, John Digweed, Soul Button, FOLGAR, Soundexile, Artfaq, Antrim, Ezequiel Arias and Martin Garcia among others. Anto is planning to start producing.
This is her first Canadian appearance and Ottawa Prog Vibes is thrilled to have her as our guest for this week’s episode.

Our next instalment of the Mellow series has a delicious organic set from a rising Ottawa talent, Steve Finney. Originally from the UK, Steve grew up listening to the classic trance and rave tracks of the 90's. Now based in Ottawa, Steve has mixed guest sets for Planet Ibiza’s Eivissa Beach Cafe and Toronto’s Ion. He loves to listen to and mix a more chilled out and mellow sound using the best of organic and progressive tracks. However, those 90's trance synth and pad sounds still permeate through, with the tribal sounds of the rave era also prevalent.
This set will leave you wanting to hear more from the man.

Artist Bio
OPV is thrilled to host the Canadian premiere of a major electronic music artist from Jujuy, Argentina. I first came across Poli Siufi when I discovered his kick-ass bootleg of Santana’s “Black Magic Woman,” which brought the house down at @liveonelgin when I played it last December. Started talking to the dude and here is the happy outcome.
Juan Jose Siufi (Poli Siufi) was born in San Salvador de Jujuy (Argentina). His beginnings in electronic music took place in Córdoba, followed by four years of intense apprenticeship in Buenos Aires.
Progressive sounds are his passion, where geniuses like Hernán Cattaneo, John Digweed and Nick Warren and Guy J among others, become a fountain of inspiration in crafting a delicate fluidness, highlighting his style of melodic music with influence from psychedelic and oriental blends with explosive endings to pure groove and melodic techno.
Exploring new horizons, he moved to México in 2017, where he shared decks at various clubs and parties with DJs as Igor Vicente (Mobilee), Omar Labastida (Deeperfect), Guille Perez (Fest On), House Definition (A2 Level), Suly Salinas (3B), Jay Perlestein (Fest On) and others.
Soon after, following his call and motivation, he travelled East, alternating dates between beach parties and clubs such as EL LOCO CLUB (Montuçon, France), Maya Beach Club (Koh Tao, Thailand) and Hotel Ombak Sunset (Gili T, Indonesia). The experience imprinted in him an oriental infusion which is felt in the delicate balance of his productions.
In 2018, coming back to his native land, he founded @nirvana_producciones in Jujuy, sharing decks with Soundexile, ANTRIM, Sebastian Busto, Brigado Crew, Federico Monachesi, Ezequiel Arias, Lucas Rossi and Fabri Lopez to name a few. Nube Records, Future Avenue and 3rd Avenue have been releasing some of his productions.

Ronin means “masterless samurai” – and that’s been Matt Brock’s musical philosophy from day one. From his early teen years spinning trip hop, rap and hip hop on SL 1210’s, Ronin Audio has built a vast and broad knowledge of music, mixing styles and melodic sensitivities. Growing as a DJ in Texas put him in contact with both the most demanding musical audiences of Austin and Dallas, and the same time the uphill struggle to get large club audiences to embrace musical genres and styles beyond the commonly heard rap, hip hop and top 40.
His work as a DJ goes back more than 20 years. In the early 2000’s he held a residency at Austin’s Red Fez club, where he specialized in French, Persian and Turkish hip hop. Moving back to Dallas in 2002, he held residencies at Zoo Bar and Kizmet, always cultivating his audiences to the pioneering sounds of the more cutting-edge electronic genres. He is known for his legendary mash-ups that bridge divides between genres, and his flawless transitions.
Since the late 2010’s, Ronin’s musical heart is with deep house, progressive, melodic house and techno. He is inspired by the music of Soul Button, Joof Records, Cristoph, Ben Böhmer, Dylhen, Moritz Hofbauer and Jan Blohmquist. In 2019 started a very popular progressive series of nights at Dallas’ Regeneration Arcade (interrupted by covid). You now hear him play on several global radio shows including Beats 2 Dance (UK), Abyss Sound Experience on Quest London Radio (UK), Techno Connection (UK), and now Ottawa Prog Vibes with this exclusive set for his first Canadian appearance.
